This cannon at Manassas Battlefield Park in Virginia looked lonely in its field. I liked the sun glinting off of the barrel and the misty fields beyond, which you could almost imagine soldiers emerging from.
This little footbridge was also at Manassas. The reflection of the bridge and the trees in the stream was soothingly peaceful. It helped that I was there on a January day with few other visitors.
This was taken during the exhibition of Christo's "Gates" project in NYC's Central Park. I was standing under one of the gates and looking up at the moon, which was visible in the late afternoon sky.
I think I took this one with my first digital camera. It was a blue heron I happened to encounter while walking in a local park in Virginia.
A scene from Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, MD, which is the site of the Potomac Valley Irish Wolfhound Club's Specialty Show in the spring. The park is always gorgeous ... well, except for the time it snowed =:-O.
Some interesting lichen I decided to photograph while I was waiting for the next dog to be brought out of the shelter one day.
